If you’re looking for orthodontic treatment in East Hampton or Riverhead, we can definitively say we know a good option for you. It’s us! Today, Facing the Future Orthodontics will give you an overview of our practice, and let you know all about the team behind your straight smile.
An All-Star Team
Let’s start by introducing you to our two incredible orthodontists and our team, who collaborate every day to make the magic happen.
- Dr. Vic (aka Dr. Victor J.R. Grazina) is a highly esteemed doctor who has been practicing orthodontics for almost 20 years. As an ortho geek, he is an expert on many options, even serving as the president of a national orthodontic association. He stands apart from other doctors for his expertise in treating airways in kids and adults.
- Dr. Hailey (aka Dr. Hailey Taylor) is a West Coast native who fits right in with us in New York. She’s immensely skilled and loves to transform the smiles of patients of all ages. Ask her about her prior life making jet fuel or her weeklong hikes!
- Our team is made up of the most incredible clinical and coordinating crew a practice could ask for! Each member was selected for their outstanding talent and prowess in the orthodontic field, and it’s a difference you can feel when you’re in their care.
Treatments We Offer
Now that you know a bit about our awesome team of professionals, let’s cover some of our treatment options. We’re proud to go well beyond what most offices offer to give our patients a wide variety of customizable options.
-
- Metal Damon Braces: A reliable and popular choice, metal braces are often preferred for children but are equally effective for adults. They are super predictable and the Damon System is known to reduce extraction of permanent teeth. This system can treat the most complex and difficult cases.
- Clear Damon Braces: Also called ceramic braces, these work just like metal braces but feature tooth-colored brackets made from polycrystalline ceramic, offering a more subtle appearance. Our Damon version doesn’t stain like traditional clear braces.
- Clear Aligners (like Invisalign, Spark, Angel…): Facing the Future Orthodontics offers these removable aligners for teens and adults. They offer a discreet and flexible alternative to traditional braces. You’ll switch to a new set about each week to gradually align your teeth. You take these out to eat and brush so they are very accommodating to your lifestyle.
- InBrace Hidden Treatment: This option presents a beautiful compromise for a lot of our patients. We place this appliance behind your teeth so it’s not visible at all. It also has special Gentleforce technology that helps it adjust your teeth independently. Dr. Vic is a recognized leader in this option and was the president of the national organization that teaches other orthodontists how to use them.
Sleep & Airway Treatment
As we said, this is an area of particular focus for our office. This condition manifests itself differently in children and adults, but it can be extremely dangerous if left untreated. Here’s some information about sleep apnea, which we find is often overlooked:
- Loud Snoring: This is often the most obvious symptom, especially in obstructive sleep apnea.
- Gasping for Air During Sleep: Waking up suddenly and gasping for air is a frightening but common effect of sleep apnea. Often seen by a bed partner, noticeable interruptions in breathing are followed by this manner of choking or gasping.
- Excessive Daytime Sleepiness: Frequent fatigue and drowsiness during the day, even after a full night’s sleep, is a symptom.
- Restless Sleep: Constant tossing and turning or waking up multiple times during the night.
- Morning Headaches: Waking up with headaches is common due to low oxygen levels during the evening.
- Dry Mouth or Sore Throat Upon Waking: Mouth-breathing during sleep can lead to these symptoms.
- High Blood Pressure: Sleep apnea can also be connected to hypertension, especially if left untreated.
So, how do we treat these conditions? It depends what you need! Dr. Vic can use an appliance called a maxillary skeletal expander to widen your upper jaw and allow for more room to breathe in your airways. We can use appliances to bring your lower jaw forward while you sleep. We can include orthodontic treatment to increase the space for the tongue… really, whatever your anatomy shows is where we will focus.
At Facing the Future Orthodontics, we offer sleep-breathing disorder assessments for free on our website for both kids and adults.
