Dr. Hailey Taylor

Dr. Hailey Taylor - or Dr. Hailey as our patients love to call her - works with Dr. Vic to bring patients in East Hampton and Riverhead the high-quality care and exceptional results that Facing the Future Orthodontics is known for.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Dr. Hailey grew up in Northern California, but after attending Stony Brook for her orthodontic residency, she chose to join us here on the East End.

Her mom, a nurse practitioner, actually told her, "Don't be a doctor." So after finishing her bachelor's degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, Dr. Hailey worked for three years as a chemical engineer.

While she had a passion for the science of engineering, she really wanted to work with people. That's when she decided to go to dental school. Dr. Hailey completed her dental degree at UC San Francisco and then spent three years at Stony Brook to specialize in orthodontics.

Dr. Victor Grazina

Dr. Victor J.R. Grazina - or Dr. Vic as our patients love to call him - is an admitted ortho geek who loves serving up healthy, beautiful smiles to East Hampton and Riverhead communities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A lifelong learner and teacher of orthodontics, Dr. Vic earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Florida (Zoology and Human Nutrition) and then graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, where he was elected by his peers to be President of his class and Chair of the Ethics Committee.

He practiced general dentistry in Suffolk County and Manhattan for three years before earning his Orthodontic Degree at the prestigious Tufts University in Boston.

Dr. Vic is a Damon System Mentor as well as a specialist in lingual orthodontics (braces hidden behind your teeth). He is currently the President of ALOA (the American Lingual Orthodontic Association) where he teaches other orthodontists how to use the most invisible option available.

What Does an Orthodontist Do?

Many people wonder about the difference between an orthodontist and a general dentist. While both focus on oral health, orthodontists specialize in diagnosing, preventing, and treating misalignments of the teeth and jaw.

Orthodontists undergo additional years of specialized training beyond dental school to master techniques such as braces, clear aligners, and other corrective appliances. Their primary goal is to ensure proper bite function and alignment, improving not just aesthetics but also long-term oral health. Crooked teeth and bite issues can contribute to problems like difficulty chewing, speech impediments, and even jaw pain.

Unlike general dentists, who handle cleanings, fillings, and overall oral hygiene, our Sag Harbor orthodontists focus solely on correcting structural dental concerns. If you're considering treatment in Sag Harbor, visiting an orthodontist ensures you receive expert care tailored to aligning your smile. Whether you're looking for metal braces, ceramic braces, or clear aligners, a specialist will guide you toward the best solution for your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontic treatment is a big decision, and we understand you may have questions before getting started. Below, we've answered some of the most common concerns to help you feel confident about your journey to a healthier smile.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Treatment time varies depending on the complexity of the case, but most patients wear braces or aligners for 12 to 24 months.

Do braces or clear aligners hurt?
You may experience mild discomfort when your braces are adjusted or when switching to a new aligner tray, but this typically fades within a few days.

Can adults get braces or clear aligners?
Absolutely! Orthodontic treatment is effective at any age, and many adults choose clear aligners for a discreet option.

How often do I need to visit the orthodontist?
Most patients have appointments every 4 to 8 weeks for adjustments and progress checks.

What happens if I break a bracket or lose an aligner?
Contact our office as soon as possible. We'll guide you on the best next steps to keep your treatment on track.

Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment?
Yes! Retainers help maintain your new smile by preventing teeth from shifting back to their original positions. Your orthodontist will provide specific instructions on how often to wear your retainer.

What foods should I avoid with braces?
Sticky, hard, and chewy foods, like gum, caramel, popcorn, and hard candies, can damage brackets and wires. Stick to softer foods and cut crunchy items into small pieces to protect your braces.
